To accept something !

To accept something !

The word accept means:

to take or receive (something offered); receive with approval or favor: to accept a present; to accept a proposal.

to accept an invitation, gift, position

Its a verb :

any member of a class of words that function as the main elements of predicates, that typically express action, state, or a relation between two things, and that may be inflected for tense, aspect, voice, mood, and to show agreement with their subject or object.

When it involves accepting a gift, something offered it is a action taken.

An action is

something done or performed; act; deed.

an act that one consciously wills and that may be characterized by physical or mental activity

Now the greek word for a work ergon means:

business, employment, that which any one is occupied

a) that which one undertakes to do, enterprise, undertaking

2) any product whatever, any thing accomplished by hand, art, industry, or mind

3) an act, deed, thing done: the idea of working is emphasised in opp. to that which is less than work

érgon (from ergō, "to work, accomplish") – a work or worker who accomplishes something. 2041 /érgon ("work") is a deed (action) that carries out (completes) an inner desire (intension, purpose).

To accept something offered takes the exertion of the will, be it ever so slight, and the slightest exertion is a work by us, be it mental or physical or both.

Now to say a person becomes saved if they accept an gift offered to them, that promoting salvation by works, something the person does. That's a false teaching therefore, because Salvation is not by works lest any man should boast. Eph 2:8-9

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

a god that cannot save !

Isa 45:20

20 Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save.

What or who is a god that cannot save ? A god who desires or wills all men to be saved and come into the knowledge of the Truth as Per 1 Tim 2:4

4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

And yet if any whom He deisres this for and doesnot make it happen, that's a god that cannot save.

The God of the Scripture, whatever His soul desires, that He does or performs or makes it happen Job 23:13

13 But he[God] is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth.

Perverting the Truth of Grace !

Perverting the Truth of Grace !

How men pervert the Truth of the Election of Grace ! Rom 11:5-6

5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

Many attempt to destroy the Gospel teaching of Salvation by Grace, which is nothing but Salvation by the Election of Grace, which is Unconditional. They however wrest scripture such as 1 Pet 1:2

2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

Yes the phrase "Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father" and what they do is impose or thrust the meaning of to be, God chooses or Elected people based upon Him foreknowing as in foreseeing that they by their own freewill accepted Jesus Christ as their Saviour, but that is a lie and is not what that verse teaches, neither is that lie taught anywhere in the sacred volume.

This evil concept contradicts what scripture really teaches about God's Purpose of Election Rom 9:11

11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth )

What one does is not considered by God in His Purpose of Election, so how contrary is this compared to the false teaching that God chooses or elects one to Salvation based upon what He foresaw they would do [work].

Now whether that doing be repentance, believing, or accepting a gift offered, all such is works.

God's foreknowledge here in 1 Pet 1:2 has to do with His fore love of us coupled with choosing us in Christ His Beloved before the foundation Eph 1:4,6, and predestining us unto the Adoption of Children through Jesus Christ Eph 1:5. It had nothing to do with knowing what we would do.

To be Saved or Salvation in scripture.

To be Saved or Salvation in scripture.

To be Saved or Salvation in scripture is not always the same thing. At times to be saved means only to be saved from the penalty of sin which is Justification or reconciliation. Then there are times that it means saved from the power which is regeneration/ new birth Titus 3:5, then it means at times to be saved from this very world or presence of sin like when Paul writes Rom 13:11

And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

Also here Matt 24:13

13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Which I believe corresponds to here Dan 12:1

And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

This has reference to being saved or delivered out of the great tribulation at the eve of Christ's Return.

In any case be sure that God does all the saving. God the Father first saved the elect by His Purpose of Election in Christ 2 Tim 1:9, He saved them all and preserved them all from the penalty of sin by His Purpose alone.By His Eternal Purpose they were Justified from all sin that shall be charged to them, but being charged its imputed to Christ their Surety, and by that they are saved or Justified from their sins yet to be committed, but He was not, for He was to come in the fullness of time and die for them.

To be Saved or Salvation in scripture.2

To be Saved or Salvation in scripture.2

Secondly, At the actual time of the Cross of Christ ,those He died for are saved because it is there that the Father was able to save us by His Purpose of Election, for He always looked to Christ's Cross as the payment for our sins by which He saved us from the penalty of our sins in His Purpose of Election. 1 Pet 2:24

24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

This being healed here takes in all of Salvation by Christ's Stripes or death, to include foundationally forgiveness of all our sins, that's spoken of as being an healing Ps 103:2-3

2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

Isa 33:24

24 And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity.

That's the benefit, advantage of His Death. While others who are born sinners are being charged with their sins against God, those Christ died for are not, in fact they are reconciled to Him by His Death. They are healed of all their sins against God, made completely whole !

To be Saved or Salvation in scripture.3

Then there is a saving by the Holy Spirit that He must do as a confirmation to the Saving Death of Christ, which is by His Regeneration or New Birth. He saves them Christ died for by giving them a New and Holy Nature to live Godly 2 Pet 1:3-4

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Paul writes of the same Titus 3:5

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

By this a New Man is Created, its a spiritual renewal or renewing of the Holy Ghost.

The word renewing in Titus 3:5 is the greek word anakainōsis:

a renewal, renovation, complete change for the better

to cause to grow up, new, to make new

a) new strength and vigour is given to one

b) to be changed into a new kind of life as opposed to the former corrupt state

That's how what Peter says is true 12 Pet 1:4

4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

This work or saving of the Spirit actually saves those Christ died for out of a Lost sinful condition to now please and obey God.

To be Saved or Salvation in scripture.4

Then there is a Saving done by the Gospel, the Word of Truth, its being sanctified by the Truth Jn 17:17

17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Also Eph 5:26

26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

1 Cor 1:21

For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

There is a saving of the Gospel, a deliverance from error to believing of the Truth, and the Gospel in its purity of Doctrines must be preached to save in this manner.

So, there is a Saving by the Divine Purpose whereby one is Justified from Eternity, then a Saving legally at the Cross by the Death of Christ Rom 5:10, then a Saving by the Work of the Spirit in New Birth and finally a Saving by the Gospel, not to mention a saving at the End from the very presence of Sin Rom 13:11

11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

Total Inability of the Natual man and why !

Total Inability of the Natual man and why !

One of the key bible truths of the Christian Faith and Gospel, that all religious people reject or twist is that of the Total Depravity of man or inability of man to do anything by nature that is pleasing [spiritually] to God.

This scriptural truth should put to silence all the false teaching of man and his so called freewill, for the natural man's will is not free, for it is enslaved to sin all the days of his or her life except a miracle of grace occurs.

Now, first of all, the Natural man, the man without the Spirit cannot believe in Christ, because he is dead in sin by nature. This death is not inactivity of nature, but its an alienation from Spiritual Life, the Life of God Eph 4:18

Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

This state of alienation is not inactivity, but in fact a state of positive hostility to God. The word means enemy Col 1:21

21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled

That's what being dead in sin means to all by nature, both jew and greek, no exceptions.

As such man by nature cannot act in a spiritual pleasing manner, such as Faith is Heb 11:6, hence none doeth good, no not one Rom 3:12

They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Ps 14:1

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

BTW to deny God's absolute Sovereignty over all things is tantamount to saying there is No God !

Ps 14:3

They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

This means spiritual good ! This gone aside is commensurate to alienation

Ps 53:1

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.

Ps 53:3

Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Again the words gone back denotes into a state of alienation from God, by which none can do good.

As such, in this state of alienation man is Lost. Dead. Man by nature spiritually speaking, his mind is lost.

Even Faith in God is a spiritual obedience to God's Law, that the natural man cannot perform. Jesus Himself identifies spiritual faith as law obedience Matt 23:23

23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

Faith is one of the more Important matters of the Law, because by it, the Law [ceremonial] lead to Faith in Christ.

The natural man dead in sin cannot have Faith in God.

Religionists today deny that man naturally speaking is dead in sin and Lost.

Total Inability of the Natual man and why !cont

Total Inability of the Natual man and why !cont

The natural man cannot spiritually believe in Christ not only because by nature he is dead in sin, but to add to that, by nature we are under the power of sin. In our unregenerate state we are under the dominion of sin and satan,nd the mind is under the control of sin, that is why Paul writes to believers describing them by nature Eph 2:2-3

2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

This is why freewill is a lie, because mans will in the state of nature is enslaved to sin. They are under the complete control of the prince of the power of the air, this is a hopeless imprisonment, its being lost.

Now this does not mean that we as natural men in this state cannot become good moral behaving people, very religious and sincere people, however even then we are still walking under the control of sin. This means sin consists in its determining influence upon the will- which is continuous if and until God quickens us unto New Life [Eph 2:1,5] if we are of the Election of Grace.

Total Inability of the Natual man and why !cont 3

The natural man cannot spiritually believe in Christ not only because by nature he is dead in sin, but to add to that, by nature we are under the power of sin

Now in addition, by nature men are in spiritual ignorance and darkness, and that is true no matter how wise and intelligent we may be in other sciences and learning or high level of religious achievement, activities and reputation, By nature we are to the things of the True God most ignorant and in darkness. Remember Paul writes of the Lost natural man Eph 4:17-18

17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

This describes all men by nature, jew and gentile, you and me.

By nature all men without exception have their understanding darkened in regard to the things of the True God.

This is major because we cannot believe without understanding Matt 13:23

23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

Now how is that even possible in nature when the understanding is darken ?

That word understanding in Eph 4:18 is the word dianoia:

the mind as a faculty of understanding, feeling, desiring

2) understanding

3) mind, i.e. spirit, way of thinking and feeling

4) thoughts, either good or bad

Our minds as the faculty of understanding by nature is darkened skotizō:

to cover with darkness, to darken

2) to be covered with darkness, be darkened

a) of heavenly bodies as deprived of light

So all men by nature are in ignorance agnoia:

lack of knowledge, ignorance

a) esp. of divine things

b) of moral blindness

All men by nature, jew or gentile though can be extremely religious yet worship God, the True God ignorantly Acts 17:23

23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, To The Unknown God. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.

Yes, Paul may have been speaking to gentiles here, however it applied to jews as well who did also ignorantly worship God.

Rom 10:3

3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

Here Paul is speaking directly of jews. But again, this can and does apply to gentiles.

To the Natural man [not born again] the things of the Spirit of God are foolishness to him 1 Cor 2:14

14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Now what are the things of the Spirit of God ?

Why its the Gospel and its composition of various Christian Doctrines, Gospel Doctrines, Kingdom Mysteries. For instance such Doctrines as the Doctrine of Christ, His Person and Work, what He accomplished and for whom 2 Jn 1:9

Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

The Christian Doctrines of the Grace of God Acts 20:24

24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

From the Grace of God we have the Doctrines of Election as in the Election of Grace Rom 11:5-6

5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

Whenever we really accept Salvation by Grace we accept that it Salvation is only designed in the Purpose of God for only a remnant.

The Doctrine of Justification comes from Grace Rom 3:24

24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

The Doctrine of God Titus 2:10

Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

The Doctrines of the Cross 1 Cor 1:18

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

All who are in a state of nature[lost] are they that perish 2 Cor 4:3

3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

The word perish in 1 Cor 1:18 and the word Lost in 2 Cor 4:3 are the same greek word apollymi

The natural man, in the flesh is in a lost state experientially, and all the while in that state he considers the Preaching of the Cross, the Gospel Foolishness, and cannot believe it with his evil heart.

God is Sovereign over all !

God is Sovereign over all !

Ps 103:19

19 The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.

The NASV The LORD has established His throne in the heavens, And His sovereignty rules over all.

The scripture teaches that God is Sovereign, and that His Kingdom or Sovereignty rules over all, for that is the Nature of His Throne.

Ps 135:5-6

5 For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.

6 Whatsoever the Lord pleased, that did or accomplishes he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places.

Daniel 4:35

35 And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?

Notice, He doeth according to His Will ! Not the will of the freewillers. The word will is tseba:

wished
to be inclined, desire, be pleased

The True God does what He wishes, what He desires, So if He desires or wishes all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the Truth 1 Tim 2:4, then He does that.

As such God is Sovereign in whom He gives temporal kingdoms to as stated by Daniel to this King Dan 4:25-26

25 That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

26 And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots; thy kingdom shall be sure unto thee, after that thou shalt have known that the heavens do rule. As Per Ps 103:19

Now this confirms that God gave this King his Kingdom with all its subjects, this by His Sovereignty:

Then why is it difficult to believe that God is still Sovereign in Giving His Heavenly Kingdom to whomsoever He will ? Lk 12:32

32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Matt 25:34

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

God gave King Jesus a Kingdom as He gave King Nebuchadnezzar. Jesus said Lk 22:29

And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me;

And this Kingdom already had its appointed subjects, Jesus said to the Mother of James and John Matt 20:20-23

20 Then came to him the mother of Zebedees children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.

21 And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.

22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.

23 And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.

God the Father has already given the Son the Subjects of His Kingdom, and they are these Jn 17:2

2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

Which are also the vessels of mercy prepared for Glory Rom 9:23

23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

The same word for prepared in Matt 20:23 which refers to His Kingdom Vs 21

Which was appointed to Christ by the Father Lk 22:29,

Its a Kingdom of Glory 1 Thess 2:12

That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.

They are called to it because they have been appointed to it, given them of the Father.

And He gives it to whomsoever He wills.

The Vessels of Wrath Rom 9:22, those whom God Created for His Purpose and Glory Prov 16:4 were created for Him to damn them FOR THEIR SINS, their lives here on earth was given them expressly to fit them for destruction, for they are continually treasuring up wrath, to which they have been appointed Rom 9:22

22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:

Rom 2:5

Preaching Christ !

Preaching Christ !

Acts 8:5

Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.

The religious world today does what is most unscriptural and what is often called to offer Christ, offer Him to sinners and leave it up to their discretion whether or not they will accept Him or not, its their choice. If they are wise they accept Him and for that God saves them from their sins, but if they choose not Him, they remain lost. To say the least this is false witnessing, for Gospel Preaching of the Christ of scripture is not an offer made to everyone in the world, saying that God Loves you all and Christ died for you all, now its up to you to accept Him as God's Gift to you. To Preach Christ is to set forth[Proclaim] from scripture His Person and Work and its accomplishments, and for who it was accomplished and then leaving it to the will of the Most Sovereign Spirit as to who will it be applied to and benefit.

The purpose of Gospel preaching has never been to offer Christ to sinners or to make salvation available if they only want it, but its simply proclaiming His Person and Work Mk 16:15

15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Preach not offer ! The word preach here kēryssō:

1) to be a herald, to officiate as a herald

a) to proclaim after the manner of a herald

b) always with the suggestion of formality, gravity and an authority which must be listened to and obeyed

2) to publish, proclaim openly: something which has been done

3) used of the public proclamation of the gospel and matters pertaining to it, made by John the Baptist, by Jesus, by the apostles and other Christian teachers

Is it anything in this definition that remotely means to offer Christ ? No !

It must be published what has been done. For instance Isa 53:4-11

4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.

9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.

10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.

11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

Nothing in this suggests Christ is being offered to anyone, but its being proclaimed what He has done. BTW this passage is the Gospel in the OT scriptures ! And its the same Gospel in the NT scriptures !

The converted Paul, it is stated upon His conversion Acts 9:20

20 And straightway he preached kerysso Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

He preached His Person as the Son of God ! He boldly stated what many jews of his day rejected, that He is the Son of God. Jn 10:36

Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

Can you even imagine Paul in the synagogues here asking jews to accept Christ as their Saviour, and that He died for all of you all's sins and loves you all ? No, He merely stated the biblical facts of Christ being the Son of God !

No what Christ's death does for those He died for is actually deliver them from sin and its consequences, not offer it to people, that's not Preaching, Scripture says Isa 61:1

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

Lk 4:18-19

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord

Preach, not offer deliverance, the deliverance is done for them already.

Preaching is not an offer of available blessings, but it is the proclaiming at to what God has done for those by Christ's Death they have been delivered [saved]

The word deliverance is the greek word aphesis and it means:

release from bondage or imprisonment

2) forgiveness or pardon, of sins (letting them go as if they had never been committed), remission of the penalty

Those who Christ died for are released from penalty of sin,, as if they never sinned. They are released from sins imprisonment which is unbelief and disobedience.

All the elect were concluded in unbelief Rom 11:32

Tat word concluded is the word :sygkleiō

to shut up together, enclose

a) of a shoal of fishes in a net

2) to shut up on all sides, shut up completely

And the idea is that we were shut up completely, enclosed in Unbelief, it was an imprisonment. Well Christ's Death delivers from that, its not offered and you have a choice to accept it or not, that's false teaching, but this accomplishment is Preached, declared. And that matter of forgiveness or pardon, of sins (letting them go as if they had never been committed), remission of the penalty

That's Justification in that we are feed from sin Rom 6:7

7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.

Its as though you have never sinned and stand guilt free before the bar of God's Law and Justice.

Now understand something, Preaching the finished work of Christ and its efficacious accomplishments for His People, we are at liberty to preach it to whomsoever, but no man alive it authorized to offer its benefits to anyone, it is to the Spirit to make it known to any and apply it to whoever intended.

To the unregenerate this Gospel Message is foolishness 1 Cor 1:18

18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

But to the called and regenerate its the power of God Rom 1:16

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

1 Cor 1:24

24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

And so it is in the purpose of God 2 Cor 2:15-16

15 For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:

16 To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

When a spiritually alive regenerate person hears the Gospel Preached [not offered], the Gospel makes their Salvation become a reality, a experience, that's why its that only to those believing, the Power of God unto Salvation Rom 1:16. A companion verse would 2 Thess 2:13

13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

How we receive Grace !

How we receive Grace !

Now to all whom God gave grace to in their Eternal Union with their Mediator Head Christ Jesus before the world began 2 Tim 1:9 to each of them also shall be a giving of that grace in time in their New Birth, this John means in Jn 1:16

16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.

All Fulness of Grace is in the Mediator Christ Jesus, and Grace was given the Elect in Him Before the foundation 2 Tim 1:9

9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

John is writing that we all [who was given Grace in Christ before the world began] receive of that Grace in this time state.

Paul mentions it here Rom 5:17

17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

The same verb lambano is used here as in Jn 1:16 above ! All for whom Christ died in behalf receive an communication of that Grace out of His Fulness as He is their Head and Saviour !

Understand, they are receiving in time their allotment of Grace given them in Eternity before the world began; and its because of this communication of Grace to them by New Birth by the Spirit, for them He is poured out as the Spirit of Grace Zech 12:10

10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications:

That's how they receive it, He pours it upon them !

And hence they believe because of this received Grace Acts 18:27

helped them much which had believed through grace

Because it was given them for that purpose.

For no one really understands and appreciates Salvation by Grace through Faith without tracing it back to its origin of cause, having been given them as the Elect of God in Christ their Head before the world began !

One more note of clarification, The receiving of Grace in time as per Jn 1:16; Rom 5:17 is when God blesses us with all needful spiritual blessings in time,in accordance with being Chosen in Christ before the foundation Eph 1:3-4

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed[ to bestow blessings on] us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

Yes, that Grace received is the bestowed spiritual blessings. The Holy Spirit here is the communicator of all those spiritual blessings , who is given to them all !

This is a great thread. This freewill junk man has convinced themselves of is one of the greatest deceptions ever. First I say, freewill. Free from what will? Free from the will of God. Of course not. People seem to think because God allows things to happen that that's freewill. No it's not. If God decides to suddenly shut you down, is that freewill? God sits back and observes and does what HE chooses. You will not do something if God doesn't want you too. Even if it's something simple. People use crazy analogies like well I can get up and go walk outside if I want to. That's my freewill to do so. I respond like that is why you need to study harder. I'm convinced that those who believe they can just freely do what they want do NOT know God and His word as they should.

Yes I agree. James 4:13-16

13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:

14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.

It in fact boasting and its evil!

Something to know about Imputation !

Something to know about Imputation !

The word impute means in the greek logizomai:

to reckon, count, compute, calculate, count over

a) to take into account, to make an account of

1) metaph. to pass to one's account, to impute

Our English def:

to attribute or ascribe

to ascribe to or charge (a person) with an act or quality because of the conduct of another over whom one has control or for whose acts or conduct one is responsible.

Theology . to attribute (righteousness, guilt, etc.) to a person or persons vicariously; ascribe as derived from another.

The act of Imputation, if it be the elect's sins to Christ or Christ's Righteousness to the elect, t does not produce an inward accord or change in the object/s, its a act of the Mind, an accounting, or reckoning that does not cause inward change.

For instance, when Christ had the iniquities of the Sheep charged to Him in order to die for them, that act did not make Him a sinner or infuse sin in Him, the act produced no inward change in Him, He remained the Spotless Lamb of God, even though that act of God's Mind charged or imputed Him with guilt and the sinful acts of those He died for. Read this Messianic Psalm 69:5

5 O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee.

That this adumbrated Christ is seen from this later verse Ps 69:21

21 They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. See Matt 27:34 !

Now the same is True of Imputed Righteousness, it does not produce an inward change, its God charging, reckoning the Spotless Obedience and Righteousness of Christ, that He wrought in His obedience to God's law in His Heart Heb 10:5-7

5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:

6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

This was a quote from the Ps 40:6-8

6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.

7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,

8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

It was He that its stated of Isa 42:21

21 The Lord is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.

And its this Righteousness to the Law that is charged or imputed to them He died for, without it producing in them a change. In the Reckoning of God, in His Mind, this Righteousness of the Law belongs to them, even while they themselves remain in themselves ungodly , sinners, and that's the Nature of Imputation, that's how and why the Ungodly are Justified [Made Righteous] by Imputation. Rom 4:5-6.

Imputed Righteousness without works !

Imputed Righteousness without works !

Rom 4:20-24

20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

23 Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;

24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

Righteousness has been imputed if we believe in Christ. The Gift of Faith or Believing is given to all who have had Christ's Righteousness Imputed to them without works Rom 4:6

6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,

CEB 6 In the same way, David also pronounces a blessing on the person to whom God credits righteousness apart from actions:

ERV David said the same thing when he was talking about the blessing people have when God accepts them as good without looking at what they have done:

GNT 6 This is what David meant when he spoke of the happiness of the person whom God accepts as righteous, apart from anything that person does:

So in essence Righteousness had been Imputed the believer before they believed, before their act of believing, their act of believing meant that Righteousness had already been Imputed, because Righteousness was imputed apart from works, which act of believing is a work, something done. The word work in the greek is ergon and means:

business, employment, that which any one is occupied

a) that which one undertakes to do, enterprise, undertaking

2) any product whatever, any thing accomplished by hand, art, industry, or mind

3) an act, deed, thing done: the idea of working is emphasised in opp. to that which is less than work

Scripture declares that Righteousness was imputed with one having done anything, no action of theirs.

So you see, before the believer believes, God has already made Christ to be for all He died this 1 Cor 1:30

30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

You see the believer was not redeemed from sin or the law when he believed, that redemption took place for them before they believed, hen He was made a curse for them Gal 3:13

13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

The believers act of believing did not make Christ a curse for them, but that is why they had been redeemed from the Law !

The same for Sanctification, the act of Believing is not what sanctified the believer, no, Christ's Blood or Death did Heb 10:10

10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Heb 13:12

12 Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered[offered His Body] without the gate.

For as Heb 10:10 informs us, that was God's Will Christ came to do, Sanctify the People with His Own Blood . The act of believing what Christ has done is not what sanctified them by His Blood, but Christ's Blood was Heb 13:12, however those Sanctified by His Blood do believe later by the Spirit's work of sanctifying them 2 Thess 2:13, hence that is the believing that results from and follows and gives evidence of Imputed Righteousness.
