So what. They have nothing to do with Border enforcement,

By invoking 10 U.S.C. section 284 which gives the president and the Defense Department the power to build the wall.

Section 284 provides that the Secretary of Defense “may provide support for the counter-drug activities or activities to counter transnational organized crime” by measures that can include the “construction of roads and fences and installation of lighting to block drug smuggling corridors across international boundaries of the United States.”

While negotiating for a full wall, which requires congressional authorization, he could proceed to construct the section 284 wall in drug corridors. And if this is challenged in court then the president, the DEA and the DOD can provide evidence that the locations for the wall are, indeed, drug corridors, and the construction should be allowed to proceed.

Nope. Trump was sabotaged by the RINO GOP never-Trumpers, of which there were a lot at first but not so many now. Ryan was a fraud - he never had Trump's back.

This should have simply been an item in the budget. A crappy 5 billion is peanuts compared to what we spend on other stuff. Ryan should have added it to a previous budget and that should have been it. But he didn't

Also, When Trump was elected he probably did not start immediately thinking about losing the House in two years and about rushing to get everything done in two years just in case. It got put off while bigger fish were being fried, and Ryan never inserted it into the budget.

The Democrats offered to support legislation in January 2018 that would have provided $25 billion for "THE WALL" in return for a path to citizenship for DACA/Dreamers!

The "Great Negotiator" turned it down, but the revised conservative version of history will shift all the blame to those dastardly "RINO GOP never-Trumpers" hiding under the beds!

Shame on them for not informing the President that elections in America are held every 2 years, and shame on Mexico for not volunteering to pay for Trump's WALL!

    Another piece of the puzzle:

US-Mexico border: Pentagon to deploy an extra 2,000 troops

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-47111913
The US is to send an additional 2,000 troops to its border with Mexico, the Pentagon has announced.
It will bring the total number of troops stationed on the southern border to about 4,300.

    So, what is coming up:

    • The State of the Union speech which will provide Trump with the best platform to make his case, and which historically provides a small bump in the polls
    • The new caravan will reach the border in three or four days
    • 2,000 more troops sent to the border, for a total of 4,300
    • Government shutdown because of Nancy and Crying Chuck reneging on their promise to negotiate

Oh yes: That last bullet point will trigger the crisis declaration.

Two-thirds of Americans in a new poll said President Trump should not declare a national emergency to secure funding for his desired wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The CBS News poll found that 66 percent of respondents are against Trump declaring a national emergency to build the wall, while 34 percent support that measure. The president said last Friday there's a "good chance" he will issue an emergency declaration for the wall.

The CBS poll found that most Republicans support Trump declaring an emergency. Party members surveyed were split 50-50 on whether Trump should force another government shutdown over wall funding, or whether he should keep the government open to negotiate.

Seventy-three percent of those polled said that Trump should continue to negotiate while keeping the government open, and 75 percent said they want congressional Democrats to do the same.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Sixty percent of Americans oppose major new construction of walls along the U.S.-Mexico border -- the goal behind President Donald Trump's budget showdown with Democratic leaders that led to a record 35-day partial shutdown of the federal government.

The shutdown, which ended Jan. 25, and the political battles that preceded it over the past several months have had little apparent effect on public opinion about a wall. Fifty-seven percent opposed major new construction of walls seven months ago, a statistically insignificant three-percentage-point difference from the current number.

They are willing to negotiate on border security. But they've repeatedly pointed out that there just aren't the votes for the wall in Congress. With the American people now opposed to the wall by a two-thirds majority, that isn't going to change.

Trump is in a tough spot. With the Mueller probe going as it is, he really needs to win another four years. And his base is just as demanding that the wall be built as most Americans are opposed to it.

He's in a box of his own making.

Trump is incapable of thinking; trump is a reactionist, like a fly on the wall and we all know what to do if you find a fly on your wall.

A wall doesn't say "Stay Out!" or "Go Away!"

A wall says "Use The Door"

I wonder if those people who are irrationally opposed to Trump's wall understand that there will be doors
