The system in 2016 effectively ignored the ballots of 3 million voters all because the Electoral College wasn't sufficiently calibrated to reflect their intensions!

Actions speak louder than words and the message that the "system" sent to those voters in 2016 was that irrespective of all the flowery speeches by politicians praising American democracy, their 3 million votes were irrelevant and that they might as well have stayed home!

If that's not the message that government wants to send to voters, then make the necessary changes!

In the People's Republic of Trump anyone who votes against him must be an "illegal" - based on the 2018 Interim Election that would place the majority of the American electorate under suspicion!

Time for "The Donald" to appoint yet another commission to ferret out all those millions of illegal voters (code for anyone voting against him) - democracy is laudable, but in the words of Vladimir Putin, "sometimes the people don't know what's good for them!" !

    Explain!
Even in the very best of situations, voting is still an unmitigated failure. The fact that any simple majority of individuals (mob) can determine an outcome that adversely affects the minority (mob rule) is against all natural rights. In the United State today, all who vote harm others so that they might benefit. By voting, they are also sanctioning theft of private property at the point of a gun, and the redistribution of that property to those who did not earn it.

The Electoral College consists of 538 electors, with an absolute majority of 270 electoral votes irequired to win a presidential election.

Article II, Section 1, Clause 2, the legislature of each state determines the manner by which its electors are chosen. Each state's number of electors is equal to the combined total of the state's membership in the Senate and House of Representatives; currently there are 100 senators and 435 representatives.

The 23 Amendment provides that the District of Columbia (D.C.) is entitled to a number of electors no greater than that of the least populous state (i.e. 3)

    - given that each state receives 2 Senate and 1 House seat irrespective of their population, the rural, less populated states that tend to vote Republican automatically received a numerical advantage over their larger, more urban counterparts that tend to vote Democrat!

    - studies have shown that its allocation of Electoral College votes gives citizens in less populated rural states as much as four times the voting power as those in more populous urban states

    - 48 states have adopted a "winner take all" system that can distort the Electoral College vote away from the popular vote (ie. Trump won 52% of the Texas vote in 2016 and received all 38 of Electoral College votes, Clinton won 61% of the California vote and got all 55 votes)

    - the congressional House districts and the electoral college seats allocated during the 2020 general elections will still be based on the 2010 census - that results in both House districts and EC votes being apportioned based on a census data that is 10 to 20 years out of date and that doesn't reflect the current popular vote

    - polling since 1967 indicates that a majority of Americans have consistently favoured the president and vice president be elected by the nationwide popular vote, instead of by the Electoral College

And when you run for an election, nobody gives a frig about the popular vote and people only care about who wins by the rules. You lost, and rightfully so

Oh and by the way, your post has absolutely nothing to do with the thread topic. Sorry if you hate winners. I guess that's how it is when you are a loser

So your saying The EC is skewd because it is using 2010 census results?

What does that have to do with Trump's first two years in office.

People who favor the popular vote are stupid idiots and do not understand how the EC actually protects minorities and protects them from the tyranny of the majority. Everything the founding fathers created was to make sure that all people were represented and that one group was not able to tyrannically Lord it over everyone else. The Electoral College prevents mob rule and tyranny of the majority.

I don't expect you to be able to grasp something like that though, you do not have the wit for it.
