    Dumb question?

Maybe this is a dumb question, but why do all (or most of) these crises that are supposed to provide the proof that we need greater gun control seem to happen at schools?
If God promises life, He slayeth first; when He builds, He casteth all down first. God is no patcher; He cannot build on another's foundation. - William Tyndale

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
    Jeremiah 17:9

Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God.
Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.

    Isaiah 50:10-11

Here is a list of 10 of the recent mass shootings in the U.S.
    • Stoneman Douglas High School shooting
    • Las Vegas shooting
    • Sutherland Springs church shooting
    • Orlando nightclub shooting
    • San Bernardino attack
    • Umpqua Community College shooting
    • Washington Navy Yard shooting
    • Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting
    • Aurora shooting
    • Binghamton shootings

Only a few of them happened in a school.
The school shootings are just more memorable because they involve children.

It just seems to me that the most political hay is made out of school shootings - when those are the situations in which it is most likely that no one is armed. There are other incidents - to be sure - but unless Pandora's box can be closed and the knowledge and ability to create and use guns can be done away with, doesn't the logical response seem to be allowing more people to be armed (but trained and trustworthy)? Most mass shootings take place in places where most people are not ready to respond to others who want to use guns recklessly. Restricting gun ownership even further only further increases the number of people who are vulnerable to those who will do whatever it takes to get a weapon and use it to its full effect.
