Either he lied then or he's lying now.
It’s not a phobia when you have
    rational reasons to be concerned.

Comey under oath: no one asked me to drop investigation

To whom would former FBI Director Comey have reported White House interference?

    1. Acting Attorney General was fired within weeks of the Inauguration.

    2. Most of the senior leadership positions at the Department of Justice were unfilled.

    3. When Attorney General Sessions, a Trump supporter, eventually took office, he was forced to recuse himself after lying to a Senate committee about his meetings with Russian officials.

    4. Trump had VP Pence and Sessions leave the room before attempting to influence an FBI investigation - so there would be no witnesses and it would be Comey's word against his boss, the President!

    5. The Assistant Attorney General who had only been recently appointed was co-opted by the President to write a report that was used to justify Trump's termination!

    6. With Republican majorities in both the House and Senate, and control of all committees, it was not in their best interests politically to take Comey's word over this President!

Because the Dems were slow walking all Trump's appointees.

When Attorney General Sessions, a Trump supporter, eventually took office, he was forced to recuse himself after lying to a Senate committee about his meetings with Russian officials.
NO, he wasn't "forced to recuse himself", and he didn't lie. It was a normal meeting that he and many others had that he didn't consider outside the normal order of business. He recused himself because Franken and dopey friends made a "federal case" out of it.

Trump had VP Pence and Sessions leave the room before attempting to influence an FBI investigation - so there would be no witnesses and it would be Comey's word against his boss, the President!
Then you're calling Comey a liar, because he said no one had tried to influence him. And, you're falling for all the false news reports that have come out.

The Assistant Attorney General who had only been recently appointed was co-opted by the President to write a report that was used to justify Trump's termination!
Then you're calling him a liar, too. And you're claiming he wrote something untrue.

This White House, in its infinite wisdom, has squandered its "political capital" on such pressing issues as the size of the Inauguration crowd, 3 million illegal Hillary voters and claims that President Obama wiretapped Trump Towers.

Trump's credibility was already an issue after spending years promoting the "birther" claim that President Obama was born outside of America and not entitled to assume office.

The Republicans have majorities in the House and Senate, and in control of all the committees - so the obstructionist argument is just one in a long list of conservative fallacies!

The reality is that the Trump Administration still haven't submitted names to fill those positions and/or completed the paperwork.

The Trump Administration still doesn't have a ambassador for Canada - America's largest trading partner for which it shares over 5000 miles of border.

It also lacks an US ambassador in South Korea - located next to America's number one foreign affairs concern!

This was last Wednesday's explanation as to why Comey was fired - by Thursday afternoon it was relegated to just another one of the long list of lies associated with this White House!

For a President that insists on extreme vetting for Muslims, there is no excuse as to why he and the Vice President can't get their stories straight over something as important as the firing of a FBI Director!

To whom was Comey supposed to complain - there was nobody in positions surrounding the FBI Director who weren't Trump appointees!

The President and his supporters are slow learners - attacking the credibility of someone who knows where "all the skeletons are buried" defies logic!

Comey is the original "boy scout" and determined to preserve his reputation - now that he is a private citizen and free to defend himself, Trump the hunter has become the hunted!

Haven't you watched the hearings? All of them went on and on for hours and hours and days and days. They were slow walking.

Haha...you heard that on CNN. The hunter has become the hunted.

Comey was the head of the FBI. He had a duty to report it to the Justice Dept. There has always been someone in charge....even when it was Obama's holdovers.

WHO'S RUNNING THE GOVERNMENT? Trump has yet to fill 85% of key executive branch positions
    Apr. 22, 2017

Nearly 100 days into his term, President Donald Trump hasn't nominated anyone for 85% of key executive branch positions that require Senate confirmation.

Of the 554 positions requiring confirmation, as of Saturday, 473 have no nominee, 35 have been announced but not formally nominated, 24 have been nominated, and just 22 have been confirmed thus far, according to a database put together by the Washington Post and the nonpartisan Partnership for Public Service.

By this point in his first term, former president Barack Obama had 120 people nominated and just 54 confirmed, according to data provided to Business Insider by the Partnership for Public Service.

... experts warn the greatest risk in unfilled roles lies in handling crisis situations or enacting long-term policies.

And the delay could be creating the No. 1 thing Trump hates about government — inefficiency.

Some key departments have almost no Trump-appointed staffers. The Department of State, for example, has 119 positions that require Senate confirmation. So far, 3 have been confirmed, including Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and UN Ambassador Nikki Haley.

The Department of Defense, which consists of 53 key positions, has had just one nominee — the Secretary of Defense, James Mattis — confirmed, while two others have been nominated but not confirmed, and one has failed. No one has yet been nominated for the other 49 positions in the agency.

... "And if Trump wants to make policy changes, which he clearly seems to want to do, he can't really do that unless he has his people working on programs he wants to change," Pfiffner said.

... In August 2016, 50 of the nation's top Republican national security officials signed a letter denouncing Trump's candidacy, warning that he would put national security at risk and "be the most reckless president in American history."

... House Speaker Paul Ryan said he would "no longer defend Donald Trump," joining a long list of Republicans who denounced their nominee for the tape.

... There have reportedly been instances in which cabinet secretaries have put forward candidates for sub-cabinet level positions that the White House has rejected, and vice versa.

The results — a nearly-empty State Department, for example — can be risky in a crisis situation or if there's a major change in policy.

The problem doesn't stem from a Democratic minority, its internal struggle within the Republican Party!

A greater share of presidentially appointed positions that require Senate confirmation were sitting vacant at the end of Obama’s first term than at the end of Bill Clinton’s or George W. Bush’s first terms.

At least 68 of the positions remain vacant, including 43 that have been vacant for more than a year.

The vacancies have been spread across dozens of different departments and agencies, with some hit harder than others. At the Department of the Interior, for instance, six of its 18 appointed positions were vacant at the end of Obama’s first term. The department had three vacancies midway through Clinton’s presidency and only one midway through Bush’s.

Comparison of Trump and Obama nominations / confirmations at the same period in their presidencies
    ************************************************** *******************************
    Trump - 24 nominated / 22 confirmed

    Obama - 120 nominated / 34 confirmed

The statistics indicated that neither the confirmation process nor Democratic "slow walking" are at the root of the problem, its the lack of candidates being nominated by the Trump Administration that has left 85% of the positions unoccupied!

The Obama Administration had 5X more of their candidates nominated by April 22, 2009
