ECT The Mystery: What and Why

What difference does it make? After you tell somone the good news, do you tell them they need to do any of these things for salvation?

“repent that your sins may be wiped out and times of refreshing may come from the Lord”

"turn away from sin and turn to God”?

How about “desire to have nothing to do with sin”?

And let's not forget “confess and forsake your sins (repent) and trust in Jesus Christ” in order that “God will forgive you and you will pass from death to life”?

or the ever popular:

"Today with all your heart, turn away from sin, and surrender your life to Jesus Christ”

Then they give an example how to pray, “Dear God, today I turn from all my sins”. You are then asked to “(name them)”! And don’t forget to beg God to “forgive me”!

Is this what you tell people after telling them that salvation is a gift, Danoh? Will you call the above, what it is: a perverted gospel of Christ?

If you have not done any of those things then you are not saved.

And yet it is a little bit like the romance situation where the partner says 'if I have to tell you what would be pleasing, it ruins it.' There has to be some spontaneity to it, some passion. I don't think for ex, that Christ gave the Rich Young Ruler an exact formula for all people (ie works). He was saying 'your heart has to be completely different from the calculating person you are now.' Freely you have recieved, therefore give freely.

Was surfing the net when I ran across the following article on the Mystery...

Which one? Christ’s incarnation (1 Tim. 3:16), Christ’s nature (Col. 2:2), Kingdom of God (Luke 8:10), Cristian faith (1 Tim. 3:9), Indwelling Christ (Col. 1:26, 27), Union of all believers (Eph. 3:4–9), Israel’s blindness (Rom. 11:25), Lawlessness (2 Thess. 2:7), Harlot Babylon (Rev. 17:5, 7), Resurrection of saints (1 Cor. 15:51), God’s completed purpose (Rev. 10:7). Thomas Nelson Publishers. (1996). Nelson’s quick reference topical Bible index (p. 437). Nashville, TN: Thomas Nelson Publishers.

I'll pick one--marriage (Gen. 2:18–24, Matt. 19:6).

You don't want to approach a holy God to whom you will give an account (1 Pe 4:5) having treated your spouse like garbage (Re 7:9, Heb 10:27). You and your spouse are "heirs together of the grace of life" (1 Pe 3:7). If you're some clown who shows up: I'm here for my grace now;

when your spouse has :straight: already gone on to glory (2 Co 5:10). :listen: It's :burnlib: not going to work out well for you.

Fire of life + fire of life + consuming fire = grace. Fire of life - fire of life = consuming fire (1 Jn 4:20).

Don't enter into a covenant unless you are willing to go the distance. The denial of marriage is a sign of the end time (Jer 16:2). Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall (Pr 16:18).

But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Th 5:4–9).

A land of misery and darkness, where the shadow of death, and no order, but everlasting horror dwelleth (Jb 10:22, D-RB).

Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it (Ps 127:1).

The Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning (Jas 1:17).

Where are your gods that you have made for yourselves? Let them arise if they can save you in the time of your trouble (Je 2:28).

In the morning you shall say, ‘Oh, that it were evening!’ And at evening you shall say, ‘Oh, that it were morning!’ because of the fear which terrifies your heart, and because of the sight which your eyes see (Dt 28:67).

The mystery was the analogy, not marriage itself...
