  • Thanks. I'd bet it depends on the street. In many parts of the Arab world, where a long held hostility over economic colonialism and broken promises found a natural outlet in religious misapplication, probably a lot of celebration. Among the more educated and civilized, outrage. Among a large section who simply want to live in peace but who are surrounded by pockets of lunatics, a saddened silence, understanding the potential blow back and abuse of principle...had a good friend years ago who was a Persian and a Muslim. He said a lot of that area reminded him of Germany with the Nazis. A few ruthless thugs can make a lot of people quiet and turn a lot of normally good people into a horror of a mob.
    In regards to your rep comment, I'm going to go with: deep self-loathing and insecurity.
