The best songs you totally forgot about

Elton John's, "Love Song," and Tears for Fears', "Woman in Chains," are two of my favorite little-known songs. :thumb:

That's a total bummer. Is anyone else having problems seeing these videos? They all work for me. I'll start putting the URL next to the song titles so people can view them directly on YouTube. Hopefully that will fix any viewing problems.

If you've only heard one song in this thread, how would you know if you would like the rest or not? Try giving them a listen first.

That's all great stuff, but the point of this thread is to highlight the more obscure hits that have been pretty much forgotten by the general public. I'd say that the musicians you list are generally still well known and remembered.

You do know that there is more than one way to listen to music on the internet don't you?

The reason the videos you posted wouldn't play is because youtube reported that the videos were not available. That error can be gotten around several different ways. I was just reporting to you I couldn't play them here. I wasn't saying I had no way to watch them.

Your thread title refers to songs people have forgotten. As I have been listening to music quite closely since I was 10 years old, 1963, there are a lot of songs I've forgotten about. Whether those forgotten songs were a product of a popular group or a one-hit wonder is irrelevant. I've still forgotten about the songs I haven't listened to for years. And when it comes to albums and not radio play there are thousands more songs I really liked but forgotten just because I have worn out the albums, cassette tapes, 8 track tapes, or scratched the cd's so badly they were tossed and not replaced.

Here's a song that was a great favorite of mine when it got a lot of radio play. I forgot about it until I ran across it on youtube a couple of years ago. That means I forgot about this song for decades.

None of the videos will play other than the Chilliwacko video. And how that can be considered good music is beyond me. Can't stand it. The only video I see on your list that I could even consider a "classic" is the America video. Now they are truly a classic rock and roll band who put out some good songs. The rest? Not so much.

My incomplete list, in no particular order, would include the Eagles, Marshall Tucker Band, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Little River Band, Steve Young(although he is much better known among country music fans. he wrote Seven Bridges Road), Gordon Lightfoot, Arlo Guthrie, Joe Cocker, Harry Nilsson, Supertramp, Chicago, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, Mark Knopfler, Moody Blues, Elvin Bishop, Ray Orbison, Highway Men, Traveling Wilburys, Tom Petty, and Rare Earth. This list does not include my favorite classical music composers or my favorite Christian music songwriters and singers.

As you can see I like only one style of music.

Yet another post by ffreeloader that could almost make me wonder if it might actually be my dad who is posting, incognito, on TOL, under the name "ffreeloader". (Except, I think my dad doesn't mind The Fixx.)
