if you research the word yeast in the earliest recorded history, you can't tell if they are talking about bread or beer
    so
at the last supper it could have been beer and wine

Moderation is a simple concept. Don't take more than you need. Enjoy yourself. Share with others. Stay in your right mind.

A glass of wine is going to have a different effect on a five foot tall soccer mom than it's going to on a 350 pound 6'8" offensive tackle and thus what's moderate will be different. Everyone that is Christian and decides that it's okay to drink is going to have to decide for themselves what's okay.

I don't know if using what all you don't have to worry about when you don't drink is a good argument for not drinking (if that is what you were trying to doing), because we could quickly do that with virtually every sin/tentatively sinful thing, and we would be quickly reduced to not even getting out of bed.
The point was not to exile ourselves but rather to "(1 Thessalonians 5:22) Abstain from all appearance of evil." It's not only the amount you may or may not drink it's also the where & when. If you're in a bar ordering an alcoholic beverage what does that do to your testimony?
Joshua:24:15 ...but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

            PERIOD.

An "appearance of evil" is communicating to others that they are not right with God if they drink wine.

Why would drinking a glass of wine in public appear evil?

How does one determine what appears evil?

                      Jekehoe,
Have you ever had a storm on Friday night and woke up Saturday morning to find sticks all over your yard? If so, did you pick them up?

                      Serious question.

Absolutely nothing. In fact, here where I live, not drinking alcohol could damage my testimony and push others away from the Gospel.
