And here is another thought...This place, like most others, goes thru cycles. Right now, it is slow...and you can use the Trump example....everyone, when it come to Donald, talks past one another....he is a very polarizing figure. Nobody wants to argue about Donald anymore...the attacks here are very personal if your either a supporter or not. Nobody wants to subject themselves to that kind of relentess beating over the head...this site is in the minority....not many are pro trump..some are, most are not...Soo the feeling is, just from my viewpoint, I could be wrong, is we are tired of the personal attacks.

She's too ban happy. It was more interesting when posters had to push the envelope further and actually earn it. Nearly everyone would likely agree it was warranted. A lot of the recent bans are certainly questionable. But...

the warnings leading up to banning are less publicized than they used to be, but for those who get banned, there's no reason for them to be surprised

          Reported.

Everyone loves The Donald 'round these parts.

Sorry to disagree, but no, I think this is an opinion because the evidence, as far as I see it, does not, in fact lead to this being a truth

So rather than over-asserting here, it is 'my opinion' that the facts would point to, sure, angered/annoyed 'guests' but happier members.
The evidence, imhO points that way.

Ever have better than simply member+ ? If not, it'd make sense why you don't often see it but it does happen, and imho, often. The bans are there for archival work. Get a subscription

When Knight and others were active moderators, there was a thing called TruthSmack. Dissenters were free to participate and would often get exposed and smacked down for their whining and naysaying. It gives everyone a chance to sharpen their debate skills and set in stone their beliefs and ideals.
Knight does actually 'like' his heretics! There is certainly some leeway with such, because the guy having the party gets to do his/her own guest list. There are a few I'd have bounced simply because they wear holes in the carpet with the same ol' same ol' (I think Knight likes well worn carpet ). We all have our favorites. Some of mine are permabanned so I think tolerance is about who has the mod reigns.

I'd like to think those of us who DO in fact debate well are more than just echoes and more than just the same ol' same ol'. Either I'm an optimist or am one who times have favored

So, who does? Maybe we can have some more Trinity threads or MAD threads. Or, are those the 'one trick pony threads' you've been refering to?
Politics, sports, and weather generally. I do enjoy some topics and sometimes a few goldies pass through unnoticed. It'd be awesome to get a few of them revived, like a 'revival' section if someone wanted to do archive work and dig them up/re-open them with some fresh blood. We were getting a lot of visitors after every Battle Royale but those take a LOT of work to set up.

hire some mexicans to rip up the beer stained carpet and replace it, replace the broken windows, slap on a little spackle and a fresh coat of paint and the place will be good as new!

I like to talk about ideas, not the person, even though I agree that line can get blurred.

The two Bob's were here... there was just a lot more going on to bring people in and get them involved. At the time, Open Theism was a huge issue/topic in churches, MAD was getting more press, not just on this forum, but on the table of all Christian dialogue.

There is no way such a thing (not to you, to the thread in general) can be thrown at any one mods doorstep. Sherman is doing a good job. There are ALWAYS questions about mod actions, but I seldom believe that has much of anything to do with website ups and downs. It just isn't a fair assessment to throw such a gauntlet because, having seen both sides, it just isn't accurate. There are a lot of other reasons for TOL changes and not all of them are bad. Shoot, many discussion forums have come and gone already burning up the necessity for their own existence. The fact that TOL is still running is a pretty big deal.
