Church and State: How It Should Work

This is the show from Tuesday January 16th, 2007.

BEST QUOTE OF THE SHOW:
Our Christian leaders fall into 2 categories. The one's who adamantly believe that pornography is a free-speech right, or the one's who, in their gut, they know it's not a right but they're too ashamed to say it out loud.
SUMMARY:

* While Bob's on the Radio with Epperson: WorldNetDaily.com published an article about adultery still being against the law in Michigan! What are the consequences of Christians forgetting the biblical foundation of law? In this program, Bob Enyart discusses the subject of the proper relationship between church and state.

Today's Resource: Read Bob Enyart's proposed new Constitution of America, it's online!

Ah, yes. Back to porn.

As Michigan goes, funny...first state in the union to abolish the death penalty, yet adultery's still on the books. Glad the Wolverine State has its priorities straight.

No.

I did, however, get a good shiver from reading Enyart's proposed constitution. Perish the thought.

Said the "Satanist" who already lives hundreds of miles away from most of "us people," yet spends an awful lot of time on our website.

Enyart's proposed constitution Quite a heavily debated topic.
I just looked over the shadowgov constitution and I was surprised. Given how well the Kings of Israel did for Israel, why would we think a constitutional monarchy would be any better? Our form of government is not perfect but what shadowgov proposes sounds worse, not better.

I wonder how much they want for Australia?
I was thinking more along the lines of an unihabited, but habitable, island. That way we won't have a revolt of those who already live there. If noboy wants to live under a just justice system, then instead of leaving, they can just stay out.

As far as I know, the only thing I disagree with in the proposed Constitution is the execution of those who are proponents of a capital crime [abortion]. If they don't commit the act, there's no point in executing them. Or has Bob changed his mind about this, by now?

Enyart's proposal allows for a standing army. Was a standing army something to be encouraged, or something to be avoided?

The system of judges he proposes consists of a massive, micromanaging bureaucracy.

There is no clear cut standard for how the regional authorities are chosen; either it is arbitrary or there is a standard Enyart has in mind that he doesn't spell out.

Giving any monarch power over transportation and communication is a sure fire way to guarantee tyranny, pure and simple. Allowing the government to seize property, and essentially rubberstamp their right to eminent domain, is an appalling violation.

Flogging for tax evasion seems to be another arbitrary choice and I'm not aware of its biblical merit for this offense.

If greater spending is required in a time of war what happens if the people DON'T chip in with freewill offerings?

Why NOT allow amendment to the code?

Allowing monarchs to act as despots with the promise that "God'll get 'em in the end!" is grotesque and will inevitably lead to abuse of power. So he'll be judged in the next life. Gee. That's rich. Even the English had the wits about them to chop off Charles's head.
