CRTL Kills Anti-Life Fetal Homicide Bill

This is the show from Monday March 21st, 2011.

SUMMARY:

* Rep. Waller Should Consider CRTL's Abortion-Neutral Bill: Colorado Springs Representative Mark Waller (R) proposed a 16-page "fetal crimes" bill replete with support for abortion politics that CRTL successfully worked to sack. Rep. Waller should have been replaced his legislation with this neutral, single-sentence bill written for Colorado Right To Life by a county prosecutor:

"If the commission of any crime codified in Title 18 of the Colorado Criminal Code is the proximate cause of death or injury to an unborn member of the species Homo sapiens at any stage of development, the respective homicide and assault charges for that death or injury may be brought contemporaneously with the underlying charges."

* Beginning in December Colorado Right To Life: proposed to pro-life legislators various concept statements, a full-blown bill, wording very similar to the above, and now, this latest and best example of a principled abortion-neutral fetal crimes bill. (How is it possible to have a principled abortion-neutral bill? Model it after Exodus chapter 21!) Please pray that self-described pro-life legislators will be more concerned about what God thinks than what Planned Parenthood thinks.

If they don't confer personhood on an unborn child then what good is the fetal homicide bill? The clause in there denying personhood makes HB 1256 worthless. It's just stupid. Good move by CRTL to kill the bill. Mike Waller is a traitor more concerned with his reputation and status rather than the lives of unborn children.

The wording of CRTL's abortion neutral bill is elegant. The tendency today is to create monstrous laws.

Thanks IK! A principled Unborn Victims of Crime Act (UVCA) as advocated by American Right To Life at:
http://americanrtl.org/fetal-homicide-bills
enables prosecutors to charge the "typical criminal" for death or injury to an unborn child as a result of committing a crime that injures the mother, along the lines of the Exodus 21.

And thanks for the compliment to Colorado RTL (and the county prosecutor who worked with them to write that proposed legislation)!

It is nice and simple, the way laws used to be. I wonder why the tendency is today to create 15 page monsters that can be twisted every which way. God, when He creates laws, make them simple and straightforward. They are very easy to understand.

Let use the analogy of the computer. Today when you buy a computer, it is advised that you clean it off when you just purchase it because it is full of unnecessary stuff called bloatware. You are not just getting a computer with the basic programs to run it, but you are getting extra stuff that actually slow it down and make it inefficient. The same is true of laws that are passed in this country. A lot of extra garbage is tacked on that actually cripples the laws and makes them ineffective.

It is the human tendency to waste energy on 15 pages of worthless junk bloating the law and making it impotent. We should follow God's example and keep things simple including only what is necessary and of value. In the Navy we called it the KISS rule-- Keep it simple stupid.
